What is the aim of The Production Village?

Our aim is to promote studet and independent film-making and theatre by providing a nationwide online forum where media students can find people to work on their next project, find work experience by helping out on other productions, and promote themselves.

How is this site different from others I've seen?

The main difference is in our focus. The Production Village is aimed totally at student and independent productions, and therefore the ethos of our site is one of collaboration and co-operation, with most work done for experience as opposed to payment.  Plus, unlike most other sites, there is no monthly subsciption to use the majority of our facilities. 

This site is really cool, but how can I get sent jobs and events when they're listed?

Thanks, we think so too! You can either register and opt to receive newsletters by email (see the 'News' section of your profile when you log in), or you can use one of our many RSS feeds. There are lots of ways of using RSS feeds.

Speaking of RSS, can I use your RSS feed in my site?

Yes, provided:

• You don't modify the content in any way.
• You don't 'scrape' our pages to re-host the linked content on your site - however, you're allowed to link to us - after all, that's one of the purposes of RSS.
• You attribute links to us, preferably with a thumbnail that links back to our homepage.
• You don't use the feed content for slanderous, libelous or defamatory purposes.

Why should I add my profile to your site, and not some other cast / crew directory?

We think the beauty of The Production Village is in it's usability, and it's focus. We think it has the right blend of usability and style to effectively showcase your talents. Plus, you can get a basic site membership for free to add yourself to the directory.
